Anne Burnham

Anne Burnham argues appeals for the Harris County Public Defender's Office, which she joined in 2023, and brings Houston's appellate practice to the San Antonio bar's board. Before that she taught the next generation of defense lawyers as Clinical Professor of Law in the Criminal Justice Clinic at St. Mary's University School of Law.

Her career began in the appellate courts, as briefing attorney to Judge Charlie Baird of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals and to Chief Justice David Chew of the Eighth Court of Appeals in El Paso, followed by practice with Goldstein, Goldstein & Hilley in San Antonio. She was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1997, has been a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association since 1999 and serves on its board.
