SACDLA Listserv

Member conversations. Practical connections.

Welcome to SACDLA's member email discussion community. Get oriented, find help with access and review the association's published guidelines.

Your First Three Steps

The listserv is a place for professional communication among SACDLA members. Begin with your membership and the group's own welcome instructions.

  1. Confirm Your Access

Already a member? Ask SACDLA for help if you have not received access or use a new email address. Website membership and listserv access are separate. New to the association? Explore Membership.

  2. Find Your Welcome Message

Keep your Gaggle welcome email and a recent group message. They contain the group's own posting instructions and your personal membership preferences link. Keep those personal links private.

  3. Read Before You Send

Review the published guidelines below, then read a few current conversations for context. The how to cards explain common next steps.

Using Gaggle Mail

Use these provider instructions with SACDLA's group settings. Available posting, delivery and archive options depend on the group's configuration and your access.

Receive Messages

Messages arrive at the address registered with the group. Open the membership preferences link in a group email or welcome message to see your delivery options.

Start a Conversation

Follow the posting instructions in your own welcome email or group message. Email and web posting methods depend on the group's settings and plan.

Check Your Reply

Check the recipients before sending. Group settings determine where replies go, so Reply may reach the whole group. For a personal conversation, start a new email to the person's verified address.

Use a Daily Digest

If your account offers a digest, open the individual message or send that message to yourself before replying. This keeps your reply connected to the intended conversation.

Find Earlier Messages

A message archive may be available when the group administrator enables member access. Ask SACDLA if you need help. The website's Listserv Documents shelf is a separate resource collection.

Published Listserv Guidelines

The following text is SACDLA's published guidance, also available on Who We Are.

The SACDLA Listserv is intended to be a means of facilitating professional communications among members of SACDLA. It is not intended to be a substitute for valid legal research, and answers to questions posed should not be taken as such. Please do not use the listserv to engage in personal conversations, profanity, advertisements, or personal attacks. Also remember that SACDLA is a nonprofit organization chartered by the State of Texas, and as such we are prohibited from “participat[ing] in, or interven[ing] in (to include the publishing or distribution of statements) any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for political office.” Violation of these guidelines may be cause for removal from access to the listserv.

In addition, the Listserv shall not be used for advertising for non-SACDLA events. If you have trouble accessing the listserv, please contact Forrest Good at [email protected].

Helpful Habits for Clear Conversations

These practical suggestions help you use the group. They are instructional tips, separate from SACDLA's published rules above.

  • Use one clear topic and a descriptive subject line.
  • Read the conversation before replying and include only the context needed.
  • Check the destination and attachment before sending.
  • Use a direct email for personal follow ups and SACDLA support for account questions.

Help and Member Resources

Gaggle remains SACDLA's everyday discussion channel. In Trial Now is the separate trial board project. Use the listserv for member conversations and these website resources for saved materials and account help.
